THE TAY LIFE

This painting makes me feel a little warm glow in my heart. Oh, how simple life would be if I could just go back to being a kid.

Today, I was working on some charcoal face studies for drawing class in the art room. I was looking in the mirror at my face, focusing on only that, and I didn’t realize someone was watching me for a few seconds. The guy’s voice surprised me and I turned. I think he was a junior or some upper classman in the school. He said, “you’re really good” and I said thanks. It just made me feel good, even if what I was drawing was total crap. People don’t compliment me that often, I guess with good reason…but to get a real compliment from someone I don’t even know, it felt so good because it hasn’t happened in so long. So that was a part of my day that deserves a much needed smile and maybe an uplifted heart.
